How the measurement error, bias and correction calculator works
Turn repeated comparison readings into a transparent measurement summary without treating error, correction, uncertainty, resolution, and calibration as interchangeable concepts.
Mean indication = sum of indications ÷ count. Signed error = mean indication − reference; additive correction = reference − mean indication. Relative error uses the magnitude of a nonzero reference.

Readings 99.8, 100.1, 99.9, and 100.0 against reference 100 have mean 99.95, signed error −0.05, and additive correction +0.05.

Measurement and calibration boundary
The reference must be appropriate and traceable for the task. Repeated-reading spread is not a complete uncertainty budget, and this comparison does not adjust an instrument, certify calibration, establish tolerance compliance, or account for reference uncertainty, drift, environment, hysteresis, loading, or method effects.
Precision and reporting
Calculations retain working precision and round only for display. Very small and large nonzero values use scientific notation; displayed digits cannot create accuracy, traceability, or observational certainty absent from the entered data.
