We aim to use established formulas, explain important assumptions, test calculations across realistic scenarios, and clearly identify where a result is an estimate rather than an exact answer.

Our approach to accuracy

Accuracy is more than producing the correct number. A reliable calculator must also use the appropriate formula, interpret inputs correctly, handle units consistently, and explain the result without creating a false sense of certainty.

For each calculator, we focus on four principles:

Reliable formulas

Calculations are based on recognized mathematical formulas, established industry methods, or reputable published guidance appropriate to the subject.

When several calculation methods exist, we select the one best suited to the calculator’s intended purpose and explain any meaningful assumptions.

Tested calculations

Calculators are tested using known values, realistic examples, boundary cases, and different input combinations.

How our calculators are verified

2. Independent calculation checks

3. Unit and conversion testing

We check that supported units are converted consistently and that switching between measurement systems does not change the underlying result.

4. Boundary and input testing

Calculators are tested with minimum values, maximum values, decimals, zero values, incomplete inputs, and other unusual combinations where relevant.

5. Result review

We review the displayed result, supporting explanations, rounding rules, assumptions, and any warnings shown to the user.

Calculation methods

Whenever a calculator depends on external standards, reference values, or subject-specific guidance, its formula and assumptions are verified against recognized, current guidance before publication.

Precision and rounding

A result containing many decimal places is not necessarily more accurate.

365Calcs uses rounding that reflects the purpose of the calculation and the realistic precision of the information provided. In some cases, internal calculations may retain additional decimal places before the final result is displayed.

Small differences between our results and those from another calculator may occur because of:

  • Different rounding methods
  • Different formulas or standards
  • Different default values
  • Unit conversion precision
  • Assumptions built into the calculation
  • Recently updated reference data

When appropriate, we display both a rounded result and a more precise value.

Estimates and real-world results

Some calculators provide exact mathematical outputs. Others provide estimates based on the information entered and the assumptions used.

Real-world results may be affected by variables that a calculator cannot fully account for. These may include personal circumstances, local regulations, market conditions, professional judgment, measurement accuracy, or information unavailable at the time of calculation.
