Calculation method
How the two-point calibration and zero-span calculator works
Use two bracketing standards as an explicit local linear relationship rather than assuming an instrument reads in the same units or that zero and span errors can be subtracted across unlike scales.
Reference = reference low + (indication − indication low) × reference span ÷ indication span. The reverse relationship solves indication from reference using the reciprocal slope.

References 0 and 100 mapped to indications 4 and 20 give 6.25 reference units per indication unit; indication 12 corresponds to reference 50.

Measurement and calibration boundary
A two-point relationship assumes the response is adequately linear between the entered standards. It does not diagnose nonlinearity, hysteresis, repeatability, reference uncertainty, environmental effects, adjustment sequence, or whether extrapolation beyond the bracket is valid.
Precision and reporting
Calculations retain working precision and round only for display. Very small and large nonzero values use scientific notation; displayed digits cannot create accuracy, traceability, or observational certainty absent from the entered data.
