Calculation method
How the calibration curve and interpolation calculator works
Let visitors compare a global linear model with local piecewise interpolation while refusing unsupported extrapolation and exposing fit residuals instead of hiding model adequacy.
Linear mode fits reference = intercept + slope × indication by ordinary least squares. Piecewise mode interpolates between the two adjacent indications that bracket the query. Residuals always describe the global linear fit.

Points 4→0, 12→50, and 20→100 form a linear relationship; indication 14 maps to reference 62.5 with zero linear residuals.

Precision and limits
Measurement and calibration boundary
The calculator requires distinct indication values and will not extrapolate. Ordinary least squares here treats indication as the predictor and does not model errors in both axes, weighting, replicate structure, heteroscedasticity, nonlinear response, detection limits, or calibration-interval validity.
Precision and reporting
Calculations retain working precision and round only for display. Very small and large nonzero values use scientific notation; displayed digits cannot create accuracy, traceability, or observational certainty absent from the entered data.
