How the instrument accuracy and error-band calculator works

Translate a data-sheet-style accuracy statement into the possible interval around an entered indication while keeping every specification component visible.

Worst-case half-width = |reading| × % of reading + full scale × % of full scale + fixed component + count component × resolution. Error band = reading ± half-width.

Worked example

At reading 8.5 on a 10-unit range, ±0.5% of reading + 0.1% of full scale + 2 counts of 0.001 gives a ±0.0545-unit band.
