Understand the result
What the Board and Batten Layout is for
Calculate balanced board courses, clear gaps, actual batten coverage and material length from wall dimensions.
Finish layout uses visible room and opening geometry to distribute pieces, reveals, joints, modules, and cut lengths deliberately.

The relationship
The formula used here
For n boards there are n−1 gaps. The tool checks feasible course counts around n≈(wall+target gap)/(board+target gap) and chooses the actual gap nearest the entered target.
Apply this relationship only after confirming that the measurements, product basis, allowances, and units describe the same project condition.
Field reading
Use the result as a checked next step
1. Measure the real work
Use field dimensions, approved drawings, and actual product or stock information.
2. Reconcile the result
Work from the actual finished surfaces, choose the intended visual reference, and review the first and last pieces before committing material.
3. Keep the boundary clear
It does not determine substrate readiness, movement allowance, fastening, fire performance, accessibility, or installation approval.
