What the min–max normalization calculator tells you

Putting values onto a new scale. A transformation changes how values are expressed while preserving a declared relationship. It does not improve the underlying measurements or make unlike datasets automatically comparable.

Calculation rule

y = a + (x−xmin)(b−a)/(xmax−xmin).

The formula is applied only to the observations and options you enter. No population, distribution, or sampling process is inferred automatically.

Min–max normalization preserves relative position but is highly sensitive to the observed minimum and maximum.

Important: The input must contain variation and the requested upper endpoint must exceed the lower endpoint; new data may fall outside the fitted range.

Inputs use double-precision numerical methods with guarded domains. Datasets accept up to 10,000 finite plain-decimal values. Extremely large parameters or probabilities deep in a numerical tail may require specialist statistical software.
