The subject in plain language

What is a division table?

A division table lists the result of dividing one chosen value by a sequence of divisors. It makes patterns, exact quotients, fractions, and undefined division by zero easy to inspect.

It is useful for comparing rates, practising facts, finding exact fractions, and seeing which divisors produce whole-number answers.

Every defined row keeps an exact result. A zero-divisor row remains visibly undefined because no valid arithmetic result exists there.

Quick guide

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the dividend.
  2. Enter the first and last integer divisor.
  3. Read the exact fraction and decimal representation for every defined row.
  4. If the range crosses zero, the undefined row remains visible.

Calculation method

Exact rational division across a range

The range includes both endpoints and advances by one in either direction. Each non-zero divisor produces a reduced exact fraction.

Terminating and repeating decimal representations are generated from the fraction. A zero divisor is never evaluated; it is displayed as undefined and still counts toward the range limit.

Worked example

Generate 6 divided by −1 through 2

The range contains −1, 0, 1, and 2. The zero row is undefined; all other rows retain exact results.

6 ÷ −1 = −6; 6 ÷ 0 is undefined; 6 ÷ 1 = 6; 6 ÷ 2 = 3

Supported inputs

Precision and limits

Inclusive range

Ascending and descending integer divisor ranges use a step of one.

Zero stays visible

A divisor-zero row is labelled undefined and counts toward the 500-row cap.

Exact fraction

Every defined result retains a reduced fraction even when its decimal display is truncated.

Bounded inputs

The dividend supports 200 digits and 100 decimal places; endpoints support 100 integer digits.
