How the food energy density calculator works
Energy density = entered kcal ÷ edible grams; kcal/100 g = density × 100.
Energy density is a physical ratio and not a measure of overall nutrient quality.
Worked example
Food Energy Density example
250 kcal in 200 g equals 1.25 kcal/g or 125 kcal/100 g.
Energy density = entered kcal ÷ edible grams; kcal/100 g = density × 100.
