How the daily energy balance calculator works
Daily energy balance = average daily intake − average daily expenditure; period balance = daily balance × days.
The sign describes the two entered estimates. It does not prove tissue gain or loss because intake records, expenditure estimates, water balance, and individual adaptation vary.
Worked example
Daily Energy Balance example
2,200 kcal/day intake minus 2,400 kcal/day expenditure over seven days gives −1,400 kcal for the entered period.
Daily energy balance = average daily intake − average daily expenditure; period balance = daily balance × days.
