Calculation method

Calculation method

Post-money valuation = pre-money valuation + investment. Investor ownership = investment ÷ post-money valuation.

Fixed-decimal arithmetic remains exact through display unless a result is explicitly labelled approximate, such as a square-root inventory quantity.

Worked example

Worked example

A 4,000,000 pre-money valuation and 1,000,000 investment give 5,000,000 post-money and 20% ownership.

Post-money valuation = pre-money valuation + investment. Investor ownership = investment ÷ post-money valuation.
